Insurance and Financing
Weight Loss Surgery Payment Options
With or without insurance, the cost of obesity itself is often very high. Several studies show that overweight individuals, on average, pay over $15,000 a year in out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and several other costs relating to obesity. Thus, weight loss surgery may not only play a significant role in improving your health and quality of life, but it's been proven to save money over time by lowering the financial impact of obesity.
Cash - For those patients not using health insurance
to pay for surgery, we offer competitive prices.
Call us 1-310-623-1786 for
more information.

PPO Insurance
Dr. Lyass accepts most PPO insurance plans. Patients with PPO
insurance can see him without needing a referral or authorization.
PPO Insurance Approval Process - Obtaining
an insurance approval for weight loss surgery can be a difficult process. The
first thing we do is call your insurance company for two things: 1) to verify
that weight loss surgery is a covered benefit, and 2) to see what the exact
requirements are to obtain authorization for surgery. We will then help you
to meet the necessary requirements.
To learn what the insurance authorization process would be for you,
fill an Information Request Form so we can contact your insurance
company. We will then contact you regarding specific insurance requirements
for authorization. Call our office at 1-310-623-1786 with
questions regarding insurance.
PPO Out of Pocket Costs - Insurance companies
generally don't pay for all the costs associated with having surgery. Out of
pocket costs can include things like deductibles, co-payments and co-insurance.
We will inform you of what your out of pocket costs would be after we have
called your insurance company to check your benefits.
HMO Insurance
HMO patients need to be referred by their primary care doctor to
see us. Your primary care doctor may or may not be able to refer
you to us, depending on whether or not we have a contract with your
HMO. Call our office to see if we are contracted with your HMO and
to see what the insurance approval process entails.
