Dr. Arizpe is a licensed clinical psychologist in both California (PSY17402) and Arizona (3796). Her primary private practice is in San Pedro, CA. However, she consults in various locations including Los Angeles and Orange, CA.
Trained as a Health Psychologist, Dr. Arizpe specializes in Bariatrics or Weight Loss Surgery. She performs pre-operative psychological evaluations throughout Southern California. In addition, she consults with a number of surgery centers and hospitals on providing comprehensive care to weight loss surgery patients. She leads a weekly support group in Santa Ana, CA. She is a member of Obesity Action Coalition and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
In addition, Dr. Arizpe sees children, adolescents, adults and families in her San Pedro office. She sees many young people with Attention Deficit and Behavior Disorders.
Whenever Dr. Arizpe works with a child or adolescent, she works with everyone involved including the parents, pediatrician, school and other providers. She believes that healing goes beyond the office.
Her approach to therapy and assessment is cognitive behavioral. She looks at how our thoughts impact how we feel and behave. Patients do not just sit on her couch and talk. She is very directive and expects patients and families to fully participate in treatment.
